Just a short note to remind the TEAM that all registration, health history, NJISAA forms should be into the Athletic Office by this time. ALL physicals which needed to be made current should be in the Health Office at the high school by the 15th of August so they can be reviewed and certified. If your physical is not expiring in late August or Early September please return the form with that notation. It is BOE policy that you cannot participate in pre-season practices or in the season with out a current physical.

After school practices begin the following week at 3:15 from the "Field House" and will end between 5:00-5:30pm daily. We will have Team practices on 9/9 and 9/10 when school is out for religious observances. Those members of the Team who have religious obligations are excused. We have our first Invitational Meet in Jersey City on 9/11/2010 at Lincoln Park. It is the Mt.

Good morning everyone. Although we have been experiencing one of the hottest summers in recent memory I trust you are getting in your miles on a daily and weekly basis. It is most important that you are properly hydrating which includes a Gatorade type drink to replace salts, minerals, and sugars that are lost due to the heat and humidity. Be sure you have a good pair of running shoes and consider putting powder in your socks to keep ytour feet dry and cool.
Remember that all physicals must be into the Health Office by the second week of August so they can be reviewed and certified to ensure your eligibility for pre-season practice. Please make sure ALL registration materials are into the Athletic Office asap. If your physical does not expire in the Fall or immediately at the beginning of the season please note that for the Health Office.
Keep August 24th on the calendar as that is our first day of TEAM practice which begins at 9:00am at Tamaques Park by the shuffle board courts. Practice will go to 11:30am. There will be voluntary fun runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the pre-season at 6:00pm in Tamaques. There will be NO practice over the Labor Day weekend. Our first invitational meet is on September 11, 2010 at Lincoln Park, Jersey City. This is the Mt. St. Dominic's invitational and Westfield is the defending Varsity, JV, and Freshman Team Champions. We will be practing on 9/9 and 9/10 when school is closed for the Jewish Holy Days at 9:00am in Tamaques Park. Those team members observing the Holy Days are exempt to permit observence of the Holy Day.
Remember--you need a solid base to start the season---the goal---a minimum of 150 miles by August 24th.....Enjoy the summer and get ready for a great 2010 season.

Posted by Coach Hornish
